…And you should be too.
The first craft sale of the season is less than two weeks away. Keep your October 11 open, because you won’t be disappointed.
Follow the graphic to the Crafted Together blog for more information on the event. You will find me and my loverly wares under (or behind) my sweet Silver Pear Designs banner.
When I’m not sewing, I like to make food. Sometimes I take pictures of the food I make because I have secret dreams of being a world famous food blogger. Those pictures rarely make it onto the interwebs. Today is a special day, however. Today I have discovered the most delicious food ever.
They LOOK like ordinary pancakes, but looks can be deceiving. Inside those golden morsels are tiny nuggets of banana. After watching millions of pancakes made on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives last night, I knew I needed to find a recipe for banana pancakes, and find one I did.
It was really hard to wait until morning for these. I woke up before my alarm–which actually has more to do with the sun than the pancakes, but it made me ready to make pancakes earlier–and I was down making pancakes before 8:00.
The amount of pancakes this recipe made more than filled the cookie sheet. At this point I had already eaten two, and I was planning on eating more. In fact, I’ve had my third, and I’m considering another one. These puppies don’t need syrup. Which is awesome, because I’m not a huge fan of syrup–I put it on my pancakes so they are a little sweeter and not as dry. These are sweet and moist and… Well, let’s let the picture speak for itself:
Well, Craftstravaganza has come and gone, and I would like to think it was a success.
It was blasted cold, which didn’t seem to deter crowds from coming as much as deter them from stopping to look. I hear that there were probably half as many shoppers there this year than last, but all things considered, Jenna and I did very well.
I think the cold actually hurt our cozy sales. No one wanted to have anything come between them and the warmth of their hot drink! We heard quite a few times that ours would be the most popular table if we had coffee to go with our cups. Which was, you know, funny the first two or three times… But, when it got busy, it got a little warmer, and we had a hard time keeping up with all the shoppers at our table at times! I have to say, I was very thankful to have my table almost as far from the doors as possible. We heard many times that it was quite a bit “warmer” in back than it was up front. Really, though, it was just varying degrees of cold. There were maybe a couple minutes when I was “comfortable,” and I have my parents to thank for that–two blankets were a serious necessity! My feet never warmed up though, and it took a hot bath afterward to thaw them out.
We did get a chance to meet many new TeamMN members, and we got a few goodies in the process! Thank you to everyone who came out and made the show a sucess despite the nasty weather. Tomorrow I’ll post about the awesome things I bought (now that all the recipients have received them!).
I was tagged by fuzfrenzy for this little meme, but I’m afraid the buck stops here. I don’t know seven other bloggers (at least who haven’t already been tagged), so I won’t be tagging anyone, but I will gladly respond. So, may I introduce Seven Things About ME!
1. I use a shaving brush when I shave my legs.
2. Since switching to the shaving brush, I have cut myself more than I have previously in my entire life. I can’t explain this.
3. I can throw back an embarrassing amount of snow crab legs.
5. I eat popcorn approximately five days a week.
6. I feel guilty if I sleep past 8am. I still do it, but I feel horribly guilty.
7. I have toyed with the idea of a million professions. The only two I regret giving up are choir director (or voice instructor) and chef.
Ugly cats of the world, I apologize for all of humanity. Apparently there is a large number among us who get kicks from searching the internet for pictures of ugly cats. It’s unfair to you that your picture is passed around the internet only to be laughed at. I hope that you have been able to find the love you need in the “real world.”
Dear “Ugly cats” searchers of the world, I apologize for the lack of ugly cats on my blog. Certainly you must not think Quasi is ugly. There’s really no reason I should get a half a dozen people to my blog because they have searched for ugly cats. If you must laugh at cats, laugh at cats with bad grammar. Oh, speaking of which, there are new ones. Gotta go!
You may remember that I’ve wanted to find a tea I will drink.
Well, I have!
World, meet Green Tea with Cherry.
Or something worse?
I was cutting ribbon into one inch pieces last night for my Cozy Corset Cuffs. For every eight bits of ribbon, I marked a little line on a piece of paper so that I could keep track of how many cozies worth of ribbon I had cut (a total of 960 1-inch pieces of ribbon). The problem was, every time I went to mark the paper, I had a bear of a time gripping the pen. I felt like I was barely able to hold onto it; it took sheer force to actually make the mark on the paper.
This isn’t the first time I have had problems with this. Even now, 10 hours later, I’m still having trouble closing my hands into a fist. If it were just my right hand (and admittedly, it’s stronger in my right hand), I would chalk it up to cutting 960 bits of ribbon. But I can’t grip my left hand either. And I’ve had this happen when I haven’t cut anything at all.
I remember not long ago (no more than a couple weeks, but everything blends together lately) I was having thumb wars with my boyfriend, and I kept laughing and complaining that I couldn’t hold on to him. There simply wasn’t enough strength in my hand to grip his.
I’m thoroughly convinced my body is falling apart. I can think of way to many problems. WAY too many. I’m too young, as everyone tells me. “You can’t have problems with your memory–you’re too young!” “You can’t be so tired–you’re too young!” “Your back can’t hurt–you’re too young!” Bite me. I can’t remember, I’m tired, and I hurt EVERYWHERE. I feel like I’m complaining all the time, but there is literally something wrong all the time. That’s just where it’s at.
Good thing I have a doctors appointment in a few days. It’s about freaking time. It’s a good thing we don’t have socialized medicine, or I would have had to wait forever to see a doctor. Oh… wait! They made me make my appointment TWO MONTHS in advance. Ugh.
There are only three short days before my biggest sale of the season. I have 11.5 more headbands to sew (I gave up halfway through the 12th when my bobbin ran out), and that’s it. Then it’s time to label… Everything. Everything under the sun, it feels. And make a sign for each style of headband. And fill out my ST19. And work–have I mentioned I have to work 8 hours at my “day job” all three of these little days? Makes the days that much littler, non?
…without these. I suppose it would be an extra blue Christmas with them, too. At any rate, avoid the mess of stores tomorrow, and do your handmade shopping online at Etsy.
